Invitation to Submit Abstract

The Conference

The Asia Pacific Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (APATAP) Committee is excited to announce our 2023 Conference.

The theme of the 2023 Conference is “Enhancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Threat Assessment and Management”. We hope this theme will ignite discussion and collaboration and help threat assessment professionals explore ways of working with diverse communities. 

We are inviting presentation proposals on current trends of threat assessment.  Sessions can be in a number of formats, including panel discussions, case studies, research findings, and presentations. We encourage presenters from a diverse range of backgrounds, including law enforcement, corporate security, social media, forensic mental health, and academia.

Presenters can submit their abstract by following the link at the bottom of this page. Our self-explanatory form should help you.

Examples of topics which aligns with our 2023 theme include:

  • Use of structured professional judgment instruments for diverse communities
  • Prevention of behavioural threats towards minorities and diverse communities
  • Hates crimes and violence relating to diverse communities
  • Comparative studies in violence or aggression relating to diversity communities
  • Case studies of threat assessment and management in the Asia Pacific region
  • Campus violence and threats
  • Group, gang, and terror-related violence
  • Grievance fuelled violence and threats
  • Stalking and harassment, family violence, sexual violence
  • Ethical and legal issues in threat assessment
  • Violence and aggression relating to diverse political and cultural beliefs
  • Integrated multidisciplinary threat assessment and management: e.g. how private and corporate threat assessors can work with law enforcement agencies
  • Online interpersonal violence
  • Legal reform to improve assessment and management


Submission Deadline

Closing date for submissions is Friday, 2 December 2022.


Presentation Formats

All presentation will be delivered in-person at the Singaporean location.

While you will be asked to indicate your preferred presentation format, the program committee may request an alternative format be considered. The Committee will allocate presentations to the program taking into account the preference of authors and the balance of the program.

Review Process

The Program Committee will review all submitted abstracts. The Committee may make recommendations regarding the presentation format or presentation structure to suit the audience better.

Presenters Registration

All presenters will receive 20% discount on registrations. Presenters agrees to fund their registration, travel and accommodation as a condition of submitting their abstract.


Slides, Handouts and Recordings

Presenters are encouraged to circulate their PowerPoint slides or a conference paper after their presentation. Presenters can indicate their preference as to whether their presentation is recorded for registrants who were unable to attend the session live. Recordings will be uploaded onto an online platform where downloading will be disabled. 


Presentation Dates

The Program Committee will publish the program two weeks after the submission closes. Presenters may be allocated a speaking time on either 7th, 8th or 9th June 2023.
