Invitation to Submit Abstract

The Symposium

The Asia Pacific Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (APATAP) Committee is excited to announce our 2021 Virtual Symposium.

The symposium is open to a range of themes and topic relating to threat assessment and management.

We are inviting presentation proposals on current trends of threat assessment.  Sessions can be in a number of formats, including panel discussions, case studies, research findings, and presentations. We encourage presenters from a diverse range of backgrounds, including law enforcement, corporate security, social media, forensic mental health, and academia.

Presenters can submit their abstract using the form on this page. Our self-explanatory form should help you.

All topics in the area of threat assessment and management are welcome at the conference. The list below provides a sample of program topics:

  • Impact of COVID19 on threat assessment and management
  • Prevention of behavioural threats
  • Online behavioural threats
  • Family violence and the threat to organisations
  • Client and customer aggression
  • Unreasonable and fixated complainants
  • Identification and management of insider threat
  • Insider threat
  • Campus violence and threats
  • Group, gang, and terror-related violence
  • Grievance fuelled violence and threats
  • Stalking and harassment, family violence, sexual violence
  • Ethical and legal issues in threat assessment
  • Insider threat
  • Integrated multidisciplinary threat assessment and management: e.g. how private and corporate threat assessors can work with law enforcement agencies
  • Online interpersonal violence
  • Legal reform to improve assessment and management


Submission Deadline

Closing date for submissions is 01 March 2021. .


Presentation Formats

All presentation will be conducted over Zoom or similar webinar platform.

While you will be asked to indicate your preferred presentation format, the program committee may request an alternative format be considered. The Committee will allocate presentations to the program taking into account the preference of authors and the balance of the program.

Review Process

The Program Committee will review all submitted abstracts. The Committee may make recommendations regarding the presentation format or presentation structure to suit the audience better.


Presenters Registration

All presenters will be required to register for the symposium and pay the appropriate registration fee.


Slides and Handouts

Presenters are encouraged to circulate their PowerPoint slides or a conference paper after their presentation.


Presentation Dates

The Program Committee will publish the program one week after the submission closes. Presenters may be allocated a speaking time on either 30 April, 28 May or 25 June 2021.
